August 12, 2024 | During the August 12th council meeting, the Mayor of Obetz presented a proclamation to officially kick off the 37th annual Obetz Zucchinifest, set to begin on August 30, 2024. This much-loved event celebrates the community’s agricultural heritage and spirit, offering a weekend filled with live music, food vendors, carnival rides, and zucchini-themed contests. The Mayor highlighted the festival’s importance to the community and expressed gratitude to the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors for their dedication. With new attractions and a vibrant lineup of events, this year’s Zucchinifest promises to be one of the best yet. October 28, 2024 | On October 28, 2024, the City of Obetz honored the remarkable legacy of Wiseman Dance Studio and its founder, Ms. Sharon Wiseman, with an official proclamation at the City Council meeting. For 57 years, the studio has been a cornerstone of the community, fostering creativity, confidence, and discipline in generations of dancers. From its humble beginnings in Ms. Wiseman’s basement to its performances at Disney World and local staples like the Zucchinifest, the studio has left an indelible mark on Obetz. Although it closed on June 8, 2024, Ms. Wiseman’s lifelong dedication to the arts and her students will continue to be celebrated as a vital part of the city’s heritage.

January 27, 2025 | The City of Obetz recognizes Steve and Christine Sisko and the Sisko Kidz Foundation for their extraordinary dedication to supporting under-resourced families through material donations, educational opportunities, and community involvement. Since 2015, they have assisted over 500 families, donated more than $70,000 in resources, supported victims of domestic violence, helped rehome families after fires, and contributed to local initiatives like the Obetz Food Pantry and Zucchinifest Pageant. Their compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the community are honored with this proclamation.
