Rathmell Road to Close for 90 Days Starting September 15

The Franklin County Engineer’s Office has announced that Rathmell Road will be closed for approximately 90 days beginning September 15, 2025, weather permitting. The closure will allow for railroad bridge rehabilitation and will affect the section of Rathmell Road located 650 feet east of Reese Road.

The last address west of the closure is 1946 Rathmell Road, and the last address east of the closure is 1958 Rathmell Road.


Detour Information

  • Eastbound traffic: Drivers will follow a posted detour south on Reese Road to Bixby Road, continue south on Bixby Road to Rohr Road, east on Rohr Road to Alum Creek Drive, and then north on Alum Creek Drive to reconnect with Rathmell Road.
  • Westbound traffic: Vehicles will follow the same detour route in the opposite direction.

Project Details

The project sponsor is CSX Transportation, and officials emphasize that this is not a Franklin County Engineer’s Office project. The work is expected to last for three months, depending on weather conditions.
