Obetz Launches Youth Soccer!

The City of Obetz is thrilled to announce that, for the first time ever, we are offering youth soccer as part of our expanding sports programs! Our inaugural season will kick off in the fall of 2025, followed by a spring league in 2026. Soccer will be available for children ages 5 to 12.
In an effort to make youth sports more accessible to our community, the City of Obetz is proud to offer this program free of charge to Obetz residents and all students of Hamilton Local School District (HLSD). This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of Mayor Angela Kirk and the City Council, who have prioritized providing affordable and engaging recreational opportunities for local families.
Expanding Access to Youth Sports
The City of Obetz has been working diligently to ensure all children have the opportunity to participate in athletics. Youth soccer now joins the list of existing free sports programs, which include baseball, softball, and t-ball in the spring, as well as football and cheerleading in the fall.
“I am so happy that we are just a couple months away from spring sports!” says Mayor Kirk. “I am excited for another year of youth sports in Obetz, and I can’t wait to see everyone on the field.”
Who Qualifies?
- Obetz Residents: All youth living in Obetz qualify for free registration.
- Hamilton Local Schools Students: Any student enrolled in HLSD, even if they are not an Obetz resident, is eligible.
- Students from Groveport Madison Schools who are not Obetz residents are not eligible at this time, as the City of Groveport offers similar youth sports programs. However, we look forward to welcoming them to our league in the future.
Costs for Non-Residents Non-residents who wish to participate can register at the following rates:
- Baseball and softball: $80
- T-ball: $65
- Football and Cheerleading: $100
- Soccer: $80
How to Prove Eligibility To confirm eligibility, parents of HLSD students who are not Obetz residents must upload a photo of their child’s ProgressBook account to verify enrollment. Be sure to follow all registration instructions and complete the checkout process to secure your child’s spot.
