Sisko Kidz Foundation Honored for Transformative Impact

In a heartfelt recognition of their unwavering dedication to serving the community, the City of Obetz officially honored Steve and Christine Sisko and their non-profit organization, the Sisko Kidz Foundation, with a proclamation issued by Mayor Angela Kirk on January 27, 2025.

Since its founding in 2015, the Sisko Kidz Foundation has been a beacon of hope for under-resourced families in Columbus, Ohio and beyond. What began as a small grassroots initiative in a backyard shed has grown into a full-scale operation, now housed in a 2,800-square-foot storage unit on Refugee Road. This remarkable journey exemplifies the power of generosity and community spirit.

A Mission Rooted in Compassion

Steve and Christine Sisko’s commitment to serving those in need stems from their personal experiences growing up and witnessing firsthand the struggles of families trying to provide care, particularly for disabled loved ones. Their mission is simple yet profound: to bridge the gap between those in need and those willing to help.

Over the past decade, Sisko Kidz has impacted more than 500 families, distributing over $70,000 worth of essential household items, including washers, dryers, couches, and even vehicles. Their efforts have provided stability and hope to families navigating difficult circumstances.

A Legacy of Giving

Beyond furnishing homes with necessities, the Sisko Kidz Foundation has expanded its outreach in numerous impactful ways, including:

  • Providing fully stocked backpacks for students to ensure a strong start to the school year.
  • Paying off school lunch debt, ensuring no child goes hungry due to financial hardship.
  • Delivering meals to families during the pandemic, offering relief in uncertain times.
  • Sponsoring youth sports programs, promoting positive engagement and activity.
  • Supporting victims of domestic violence, assisting in rebuilding lives after crisis.
  • Helping families recover from house fires, providing much-needed resources and stability.

A Strong Partnership with Obetz

The City of Obetz has been a proud beneficiary of the Sisko Kidz Foundation’s generosity. Each year, the foundation makes a substantial Christmas donation to the Obetz Food Pantry, ensuring local families can celebrate the holiday with dignity. Additionally, the Sisko Kidz Foundation has played a role in community events such as the Obetz Zucchinifest Pageant, further solidifying its commitment to the city.

Mayor Angela Kirk expressed the city’s profound gratitude, stating:
“Steve and Christine Sisko, through their incredible generosity and dedication, have touched the lives of so many in our community. The Sisko Kidz Foundation embodies the true spirit of service, and we are honored to recognize their contributions.”

A Lasting Impact

The proclamation serves as an official acknowledgment of the Sisko Kidz Foundation’s extraordinary efforts in uplifting families, fostering community connections, and ensuring no one is left behind. Steve and Christine Sisko’s work is a testament to the profound impact that kindness, generosity, and a strong sense of community can create.

As the foundation continues to expand its outreach, the City of Obetz proudly stands alongside them, offering appreciation and support for their mission to transform lives—one act of kindness at a time.
