Obetz Announces Police Officer Promotions

At the October 15th City of Obetz Council meeting, Mayor Angela Kirk proudly announced several key promotions within its Police Division. These leadership changes reflect the city’s commitment to enhancing public safety and strengthening the team serving the community.

Sergeant Rob Rigby has been named Administrative Sergeant, taking on greater responsibilities to support the division’s operations. Wally Burris has been promoted to Police Sergeant, while Steven Ward and Conner LeMaster have both been promoted to the rank of Police Corporal.

“Our officers do an outstanding job for the city, and we’re always excited to promote from within whenever possible,” stated Mayor Angela Kirk. “We’ve been fortunate to have a team in the department that is both eligible and qualified for these promotions. I’m confident their expertise and leadership will drive the division to great success in the future.”

Alongside these promotions, Obetz is pleased to welcome Kendal McCoy as a new Police Officer. McCoy grew up in the area, graduating from Hamilton Township High School in 1992. He brings 27 years of law enforcement experience from South Bloomfield, where he served as Chief of Police for 24 years. McCoy also teaches in the Adult Workforce Basic Police Officer Training program at Eastland Career Center. The City is excited to have another officer join our team who brings a commitment to the community, helping us provide the highest level of service to our residents.

The City of Obetz looks forward to the leadership and experience that these officers will bring to their new roles in keeping the community safe and well-served.
