Revitalization Ahead: Lancaster Park Set to Undergo Transformation
Residents of Obetz, Ohio, prepare for an exciting journey as our beloved Lancaster Park, the heart of our town, gears up for an ambitious remodel! Mayor Kirk and the City of Obetz Council are thrilled to announce a multi-phase revitalization plan aimed to inject a fresh breath of vitality, fun, and increased accessibility into our community park.
Phase One: Enhancing Play and Accessibility
Beginning in the fall of 2023, we will usher in a new era of play for Lancaster Park. You asked, we listened – five state-of-the-art pickleball courts will be installed, meeting the growing popularity of this fun, intergenerational sport. We’re also introducing permanent stations for beloved games like cornhole, foosball, ping pong, chess, checkers, and Connect 4. We envision a park where you can challenge your neighbors to a friendly game or two, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition within the community.
Additionally, we’re paving a new parking area to accommodate more visitors. In our vision for a walkable, accessible setting, we’re creating integrated seating areas throughout the park where you can relax, enjoy a picnic, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
Phase Two: The Streetscape Revamp
As we step into the spring of 2024, the transformation extends beyond the park boundaries. We’re redesigning and repaving Lancaster Avenue with new integrated sidewalks on the west and a fresh bike path on the east. Our residents will enjoy safer, more efficient routes for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
Further, we’ll be ‘undergrounding’ utilities to improve the visual aesthetics and reliability of services, installing new street lighting for enhanced safety during night-time, setting up new crosswalks, and erecting a new perimeter fencing. Lancaster Park’s surroundings will mirror its inviting, well-cared-for, and community-focused ethos.
