Experience

  • City of Obetz – 2006 to present
    • manage planning and zoning activities including oversight of the Planning and Zoning Commission and working with developers through the annexation and development process. 
    • Represent Obetz on the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission
      • Serve on the Regional Policy Roundtable which directs the public policy and advocacy work of MORPC; this group creates the organization’s public policy agenda
      • Notable planning projects while on MORPC – insight2050; Rapid 5; insight 2050 Southeast Corridor Concept
    • Large development projects include:
      • Annexation of 14 acres between Toy and Bixby Roads planned for redevelopment to include commercial and industrial development
      • Stambaugh property annexation and development resulting in over 2 million square feet of industrial development
      • Build out of Creekside Industrial Park and Centerpoint Business Park
      • Build out of Butler Farms, Mulberry Grove, and Bixby Grove subdivisions
      • Walnut Creek Center – OhioHealth building is there
      • Walnut Creek residential subdivision – new single family development
    • Council Clerk – manage council legislation, minutes, agenda, etc.
    • Public Records Coordinator – work with all departments on public records requests
    • Manage Code Enforcement Division – an average of 100+ cases per year with the goal of preserving the quality of the neighborhoods for everyone
    • Project manager for Zucchinifest – City took over Zfest after the resident group running the festival disbanded; relocated festival and grew attendance to approximately 125,000.  Zfest is one of the largest festivals in the State of Ohio and was the Festival of the Year in 2017
    • Work with the Parks and Recreation Department and Fortress Obetz on large community events
    • Oversee the Big Walnut Area Community Improvement District’s Beautification Grant
    • Special projects as Council, Mayor, and Administrator as needed
  • The Ohio State University Office of Planning and Real Estate – assisted in the planning and prioritization of construction projects at the University; collaborated with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the University on master campus planning projects. 
  • Burns, Bertsch and Harris, Inc.  – worked in the private sector for 8 years helping all levels of government (counties, townships, cities) create comprehensive plans, land use plans, strategic plans, parks and recreation plans.  Worked with governments, boards, and commissions to create implementation strategies related to planning efforts.  Facilitated hundreds of committee and community meetings and events during planning and zoning activities; wrote and updated zoning codes, property maintenance codes and other development regulations throughout Ohio.
