August 12, 2024 | During the August 12th council meeting, the Mayor of Obetz presented a proclamation to officially kick off the 37th annual Obetz Zucchinifest, set to begin on August 30, 2024. This much-loved event celebrates the community’s agricultural heritage and spirit, offering a weekend filled with live music, food vendors, carnival rides, and zucchini-themed contests. The Mayor highlighted the festival’s importance to the community and expressed gratitude to the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors for their dedication. With new attractions and a vibrant lineup of events, this year’s Zucchinifest promises to be one of the best yet. October 28, 2024 | On October 28, 2024, the City of Obetz honored the remarkable legacy of Wiseman Dance Studio and its founder, Ms. Sharon Wiseman, with an official proclamation at the City Council meeting. For 57 years, the studio has been a cornerstone of the community, fostering creativity, confidence, and discipline in generations of dancers. From its humble beginnings in Ms. Wiseman’s basement to its performances at Disney World and local staples like the Zucchinifest, the studio has left an indelible mark on Obetz. Although it closed on June 8, 2024, Ms. Wiseman’s lifelong dedication to the arts and her students will continue to be celebrated as a vital part of the city’s heritage.

January 27, 2025 | The City of Obetz recognizes Steve and Christine Sisko and the Sisko Kidz Foundation for their extraordinary dedication to supporting under-resourced families through material donations, educational opportunities, and community involvement. Since 2015, they have assisted over 500 families, donated more than $70,000 in resources, supported victims of domestic violence, helped rehome families after fires, and contributed to local initiatives like the Obetz Food Pantry and Zucchinifest Pageant. Their compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the community are honored with this proclamation.

February 10, 2025 | Life Saving Awards

August 30, 2025 | The City of Obetz proudly honors Private First-Class Christopher R. Dixon, a 2004 Hamilton Township High School graduate who fulfilled his dream of becoming a U.S. Marine and gave his life at just 18 during Operation Iraqi Freedomon May 11, 2005. Known for his strength, dependability, and kindness, Chris is remembered as a symbol of honor, courage, and service, and his legacy will forever remain a part of Obetz’s story and its gratitude to all Hometown Heroes.

September 16, 2025 | The City of Obetz formally recognized K&M Market’s 50 years of service to the community. Founded by Joe Groom Sr. and carried on by his family, the store grew from a small neighborhood shop into a cornerstone of daily life in Obetz. Over the decades, K&M Market has embodied hard work, family values, and dedication to its customers while serving as both a trusted business and a community partner. To mark its 50th year, the market partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build and donate a playhouse for a local family, reflecting its tradition of generosity. Mayor Angela Kirk, on behalf of Council and the citizens of Obetz, expressed gratitude for K&M Market’s decades of commitment and contributions to ensuring Obetz remains a strong, vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family.
