Obetz Joins Regional Partners for Guided Paddle on Big Walnut Creek

Have you explored Big Walnut Creek lately?

Obetz is lucky to have one of Central Ohio’s most beautiful natural treasures flowing right through our community. On Wednesday, June 25th, Mayor Kirk, other local leaders, and regional partners got to experience it as part of a guided paddle tour hosted by the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.

The City of Obetz is proud to be working alongside Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, RAPID 5, and MORPC to protect, preserve, and enhance this incredible recreational resource — not just for today, but for generations to come.

“Opportunities like this remind us how connected we are—not just by roads, but by rivers, parks, and shared goals,” said Mayor Kirk. “It’s a privilege to work alongside our neighbors to protect and promote these natural spaces.”

Whether you’re walking, biking, kayaking, fishing, or just enjoying the peaceful views, this clean, vibrant waterway is a true gem. Stay tuned for exciting trail connections, nature access points, and more ways to experience the beauty of Big Walnut Creek. Let’s celebrate and protect the creek that brings so much life and joy to our city!
