Obetz Honors Heroic Acts of Bravery by Sergeant Tarrell Moore and Officer Eric Baker
The Obetz community is rallying together in a heartwarming display of gratitude and admiration to honor Obetz Police Officer Eric Baker and Ohio National Guard Sergeant Tarrell Moore, whom Mayor Angela M. Kirk recently recognized for their life-saving actions. These heroes played pivotal roles in a dire situation, exemplifying the power of training, compassion, and swift decision-making during moments of extreme danger.
On September 15, 2023, a harrowing event unfolded when a vehicle fire accident left a man unconscious and without a pulse. Sergeant Tarrell Moore witnessed the accident during his commute. Without hesitation and disregarding the looming danger, he heroically approached the flaming wreckage. He pulled the unconscious driver from the van using his military training and instincts, showcasing his bravery and commitment to preserving human life.
Not long after, City of Obetz Police Officer Eric Baker swiftly arrived. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, he expertly employed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on the man and initiated chest compressions. His quick thinking and decisive actions played a significant role in saving the injured individual’s life.
Because of Sergeant Moore and Officer Baker’s combined efforts during this intense situation, the patient could attend the awards ceremony and meet the brave individuals who saved his life. Their actions testify to the rigorous training, dedication, and values of the United States Army and the City of Obetz Police Department.
